The itinerary below is a brief outline of some of the highlights you will experience during the tour.  A full time professional tour director will accompany the group.  Locations to be visited can be customized to meet group objectives.

Canadian Maritime Tour

June 21 – June 29, 2010

 

 

DAY 1 HOME DESTINATION – HALIFAX, Nova Scotia  

                        Depart home destination for Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon arrival at Halifax International Airport your local tour director will welcome and orientate you on your stay in Eastern Canada en route to your hotel. Your local tour director will assist you with the check-in procedure at the hotel in Truro. This evening meet your fellow travellers and get to know your tour director at a welcome reception.  

 

 

DAY 2 TRURO, N.S – CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI

                        Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we will check-out and if luck is on our side we will be able to witness the world’s largest tidal bore. Afterwords we will travel towards New Brunswick and visit the city of Moncton and we will stop at magnetic hill and witness one of nature’s mysteries before leaving for Charlottetown. We will then cross over Confederation Bridge to get on the island. Our day will terminate in it’s capital Charlottetown where we have a city tour and check-in at our hotel where will stay for the following two (2) nights.

DAY 3 CHARLOTTETOWN           

                        Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will have a tour of Confederation Hall which we will visit afterword we will have time for lunch (on own). We will regroup at the hall after lunch, where we will re-board our motor coach for an afternoon tour of the island. We will visit Cavendish and it’s beautiful red sandy beach, as well as not to forget the domain of Anne of Green Gable. Our day will terminate with PEI famous lobster supper.

DAY 4 CHARLOTTETOWN – BADDECK, NOVA SCOTIA

                        Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out of accommodation. Today we travel to Halifax. We will return to the mainland by the Wood Island – Caribou ferry. We will visit the historic site of the Hector Quay  and have time for lunch (on own) in Pictou. After lunch we will travel via New Glasgow and proceed to Cape Breton Island. Upon arrival in Baddeck we visit the Alexander Graham Bell National historic site in Baddeck. We will then spend two nights at a lakeside resort in the heart of this beautiful town called Baddeck.

DAY 5 BADDECK - CABOT TRAIL – BADDECK             

                        Today we will travel along the world famous Cabot Trail windy road and to some one of the prettiest drives in North America. If the weather is favourable we could even go on a whale watching boat tour! (Optional)

                        Our day will terminate for an enjoyable meal at our resort.

DAY 6 BADDECK – HALIFAX

 

                        This morning we will visit the fortress of Louisbourg National Historic site. This historic site was reconstructed back to the period of New France in 1744 by parks Canada. You will be able to roam the street talking with some of the costumed guides who remain in the periods character. Afterword we will travel along the shores of the Bras d’Or to mainland Nova Scotia via Truro and if we have any luck witness the world’s famous tidal bore.  Our day will terminate in Halifax where we will check-in to our accommodations for the following three (3) nights. Dinner in downtown Halifax.

DAY 7 HALIFAX / PEGGY’S COVE / LUNENBURG / HALIFAX

                        Breakfast at the hotel. Today will be travel along the south eastern coast of Nova Scotia where we will visit Peggy’s Cove and the UNESCO village of Lunenburg – home of the famous Bluenose.  By mid afternoon we will arrive at the Halifax Citadel for our visit afterword we will have a sightseeing tour of the City. Our tour will terminate at our hotel where we will have time to freshen-up prior to dinner. Dinner tonight will be to each his/her own in Halifax’s historic properties district. Balance of evening is free to each his/her own in the historic core of Halifax.

DAY 8 HALIFAX – ANNOPOLIS VALLY – HALIFAX

                        Breakfast at the hotel. Today we travel along the Evangeline trail where we will visit the site of Grand Pré where the Acadian French settlers were deported in 1755 by the British. We will travel through the Annapolis Valley and visit the historic town of Annapolis Royal and if time permitting the historic settlement of Port Royal where Samuel de Champlain the founder of Québec City settle in 1604. FAREWELL DINNER

DAY 9 HALIFAX –HOME

                        Breakfast at hotel and check-out of accommodations. Time for some last minute shopping for that precious souvenir…. Transfer to Halifax international airport where we say our goodbye to your local tour director and motor coach driver.
